About us
Hello there and welcome to Muddy Paws of Finchley.
Carole with Ballou as puppy.
I am Carole and have always enjoyed living and working with animals, there was not a time when we didn't have at least one cat or dog at home, these being, Tibbles, Fluffy, Penny (our black cat who used to come camping in Wales with us can you believe), Moss, Scrumpy, Muffin, Mitsy and Stumpy. I was lucky enough to spend a number of years living and working on a beautiful dairy farm down in the Forest of Dean. We had a herd of 150 frisian cows and the most brilliant sheepdog, Moss, who herded the cows amazingly.
On returning to my home town of Finchley I started my own family and have three wonderful children, well young adults now. I retrained at Capel Manor in planting and garden design and have been gardening locally for many years.
I own Tisker, a lovely fourteen year old golden retriever and have had her since a puppy.
Nine years ago, having finally given in to a lot of persuasion from my children I finally decided to let Tisker have a litter of puppies. After many months doing my homework and reading everything on the subject and working closely with Tisker's breeder - Tisker produced a litter of eight beautiful puppies and she was a wonderful mum, and cared for her puppies so well. It was a really incredible experience for the whole family and we were all completely involved in looking after Tisker and her puppies, but I have to say that one litter was enough! We kept one puppy from the litter, named him Ballou, yes and eight years on and he still thinks he is a puppy. We all learnt a great deal about dog care and behaviour. I have remained good friends with the owners' of Tisker's puppies and been able to help and advise them on care for their puppies and start them on their initial basic obedience training. Over the years I have offered both dog walking and pet care service to friends who didn't like the idea of their pets being left in kennels while they were away, so we still see plenty of the puppies and they love coming back home to visit Tisker, Ballou and the family.
For many years my daughter, Lottie and I have taken both Tisker and Ballou to dog training classes. Tisker really enjoys the training and ended up the only Golden Retriever in a class of border collies, doing advanced training and agility. Even at eleven years old she was still jumping her favourite old fallen tree at the Heath.
When I looked at other pet services I found that many of the companies advertising were large franchises and middle men. That is why we decided to create Muddy Paws of Finchley, the aim being to really provide a personal service to our customers, and to love and care for your pets as if they were our own..
